Hai Van Quan relic opens to visitors

Hai Van Quan relic opens to visitors
Hai Van Quan opening to visitors after 3 years of restoration is an opportunity and an important step forward for inter-regional tourism Hue - Da Nang. However, this opportunity also poses many challenges in management.

The Hai Van Quan relic, located on the top of Hai Van Pass, officially opened to visitors after 3 years of closure for restoration under a cooperation project between the two provinces of Hue and Da Nang.

Hai Van Quan, also known as “The most majestic pass in the world”, is an important historical relic located on the Hai Van mountain range, between Thua Thien-Hue province and Da Nang city.

Built in the 19th century, Hai Van Quan is not only a strategic defense point but also a symbol of the majesty and poetry of Vietnamese nature. With its prime location, Hai Van Quan has witnessed many historical events and is a witness to the ups and downs of the country.

The restoration and reopening of Hai Van Quan is not just the effort of one party but the result of cooperation between the two localities of Hue and Da Nang. This is the first time these two localities have joined hands in an inter-regional relic restoration project. This cooperation demonstrates the strategic vision and determination of both provinces and cities in preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage, contributing to promoting sustainable tourism development.

The reopening of Hai Van Quan not only aims to preserve historical values but also opens up opportunities for inter-regional tourism development between Hue and Da Nang, positively impacting the economy and society of both localities.

Tourism development will create more job opportunities, promote service industries and contribute to improving people's lives. Local businesses will also have the opportunity to develop when the number of tourists visiting increases.

Thua Thien - Hue and Da Nang have "joined hands" with unexpected success in restoring and embellishing the Hai Van Quan relic.

“It is a clear demonstration of the solidarity and determination of the two localities,” said Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang City. However, in the future, these two localities still need to have more “handshakes” in promoting the value and effectively exploiting this relic “to create sustainable economic and cultural values for both localities” as affirmed by Le Trung Chinh.

Hai Van Quan is expected to become a new highlight in the journey to explore the Central region, where visitors can learn about history, culture and admire the majestic natural beauty.

To effectively exploit this relic, Hue and Da Nang have planned to build connecting tours, creating unique and attractive experiences for tourists such as: Developing inter-regional tours; Building infrastructure and tourism services, strengthening tourism promotion and advertising at home and abroad...

However, unlike the restoration project, the upcoming joint tourism exploitation project will certainly face significant challenges for both localities, especially in terms of effective joint management. Because Vietnam has many relics and cultural heritages that are jointly exploited by localities such as Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong; National Reserves of Bac Kan and Cao Bang. Unfortunately, there is no remarkable lesson for Hue and Da Nang in the story of jointly exploiting tourism at Hai Van Quan. Because Ha Long, Hai Phong, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, although they have long been "inter-regional" in terms of heritage, each locality has an independent management board, unrelated to each other. Without an optimal management plan, Hai Van Quan can easily fall into the trap of "no one cares about public property" or be exploited ineffectively after opening to welcome visitors.

It is still hoped that the opening of Hai Van Quan is just the first step in the Hue - Da Nang inter-regional tourism development strategy. With close cooperation as well as the determination and strategic vision of the leaders, these two localities can continue to exploit other cultural and natural heritages to create unique and attractive tourism products...
